The Cotai Strip development area of Macau promises to bring the complete Las Vegas experience to China where gambling only had long been the focus.  

With direct connections to the Four Seasons Hotel Macau and Venetian Casino, DFS Galleria anchors the entire ground floor of the retail podium and promises to be the most complete luxury shopping destination in Macau. 

The role of specialty retailer’s have changed significantly over the years as retail brands have evolved into the clear market strength, especially true in the luxury categories of fashion and accessories.  

In well considered positioning exercise, DFS had elected to focus their retail efforts on ultimate luxury and eliminate all merchandise categories that do not support that position.

Editing the merchandise assortment to reduce non-luxury categories essentially eliminated a significant portion of the traditional DFS mix.  Those non-luxury categories were areas that represented a DFS point view buying and were not controlled by a retail brand.

From a planning and design perspective it was clear that the DFS Galleria brand experience would focus on retail brand assortment and presentation and not merchandise ownership. Building on ultimate luxury, rkd retail/iQ evolved the retail program into a plan of progressive experiences.  

Boutique galleria is comprised of 18 of worlds top luxury brands that will implement their latest completely personalized boutiques.  

Beauty will showcase 24 of world’s best cosmetics, treatment and fragrance brands in the new benchmark of planning, design, implementation and operation.

World of luxury is divided into 3 areas of luxury boutiques which comprise 6 of the worlds top fine jewelry brands, watches with an impressive line up watch maker and leading brands and fashion accessories.   

A further departure from the traditional DFS was the inclusion of significant neutral and non-selling space.  The introduction of “palette cleansing” transition zones that show case art work offer the opportunity of periodic change and provide a positioning element for DFS to express their artistic personality to complement the luxury environment.
